The 1/7th Middlesex battalion were part of 167 Brigade, 56th Division. The battalion had been in France since March, 1915 and had been involved in the fighting on the Western Front since that date, John Barnes died from unspecified causes on 4th June, 1916, while in England, but it is not known if he had served overseas. |
